It has been 40 years since the day I left my roots and the area I grew up in. After so many years I happily decided to return to Kalamaki, as they once called my neighbourhood, which is now part of Alimos Municipality. My memories connect it to the smell of the sea and my care free childhood. These memories caused an intense desire for me to talk about Kalamaki and subsequently the Municipality of Alimos and address all of you who want to experience it through my eyes.
The Municipality of Alimos is a district which offers its residents, and not only, parks, coastal routes, marinas, entertainment and relaxation areas such as restaurants, bars, stores and also a direct contact with cultural events of the Faliriko Delta and the ‘Stavros Niarchos’ Foundation Cultural Centre which is located at a close distance. It also offers contemporary services such as recycling, services which upgrade the natural, architectural and cultural landscape. Lastly, the modern public means of transport greatly improve the quality of life and the eveyday life of the residents. The connection of the area to the centre of Athens but also with other areas of the capital is easily achieved through a multitude of options like the tram, the metro or the urban busses.
The Municipality of Alimos was never a contemporary tourist destination, but seeing its advantages, I considered it my duty to contribute to it becoming one. Geospatially, it is located at an amazing spot by the sea, between Glyfada, Palaio Faliro and the regenerational construction works at the old airport in Elliniko. In short , Alimos is the connecting link to highlight the Athenian Riviera! Another remarkable characteristic is the fact that it has avoided until now the alteration of the buildings’ aesthetic by the excessive construction which unfortunately is featured in the adjecent Municipalities.
This Municipality’s beauty is highlighted through the buildings’ architecture, the natural coastline which has a view of the Saronic and comes past the neighbouring Municipalities but also through its history as the birthplace of Thycydides. The sunsets accompany the evening walks of the residents and visitors while at the same time they gaze at Aegina, Salamina and Piraeus in ther background.
My wish to distinguish the Municipality has started to come true with the conception, design and finally the creation of the hotel unit Scale Suites. Scale Suites is not just a tourist accomodation but a very well structured space, a service area where all employees give their best to make good use of the visitors stay at this beautiful suburb.
At Scale Suites you can feel the comfort of a home but at the same time enjoy the services of a hotel. All you need as a visitor is a suitcase, your personal belongings, your desire to get to know the area of Alimos and your expectation to be serviced, to have fun, to relax, to be inspired by the nice sea view and the sunset melancholy, to be enchanted by the sunset colours above the Saronic waters and to enjoy the imposing Hymettus.
On winter evenings you will have the fireplace in the corner of the living room for company, while on summer afternoons you will be cooled by the sweet breeze of the sea. Your imagination will play with the endless images the sun will collect from rising from behind the mountain to its sunset as it dips into the sea.
